For a person to be a good athlete, it is important for him to be fit on all of the components described below and without these components, he will not be able to perform well in his field. Health-Related Components Of Fitness:

Most of the health-related components of fitness are focused around general fitness characteristics. It is important to incorporate all these components in your routine life for maintaining a balanced healthy life. There are the following health-related fitness components.

Body Composition:

In physical fitness, “Body Composition” is related to physiological attributes of a person. This includes the percentages of fat, bone, water, and muscle in the human body. Maintaining a balanced muscle to fat ratio is important for ideal body composition.

Cardiovascular Fitness:

This component refers to the ability of the heart and lungs to supply oxygen-rich blood to the working muscle tissues. It is obtained by sustained physical fitness which can be affected by different physiological parameters which include: heart rate, cardiac output, and oxygen consumption.

Flexibility:

It refers to the range of movement of the joints and muscles to induce a bending movement or motion. Flexibility varies from person to person but it can be increased to a certain degree by stretching exercises.

Muscle Endurance:

It is the ability of your muscles to perform over a sustained and constant effort. It focuses on the repetition of tasks for a continuous period of time.

Strength:

It is the measurement of a person’s exertion of force on a physical object and it can be increased by strength training. A lot of exercises can be performed to increase the strength.

Skill Related Components Of Fitness:

These component areas focused on the performance of technical and tactical activities involved in sports-specific movements.

Agility:

It is the ability to change the direction of the body in pace in an efficient manner while remaining in control to achieve the desired goal.

Balance:

The ability of a person to maintain equilibrium when stationary of performing an action while moving. The body needs to be in control and maintain the desired techniques.

Coordination:

It refers to the ability to bring all the body parts in a purposeful movement in co-operation of the body parts while being in control.

Reaction Time:

It refers to the time taken by an individual to act upon stimuli. The better reaction time is useful for sports which involve sudden response to a specific action.

Speed:

It is the time required by the body to perform an activity. It is the ability of the body to move all the parts as quickly as possible for a certain reaction.

These were all components of fitness which are necessary to keep optimal health.
